With the death of my mother-in-law, the family was left to clean out the mountains of items she had in her home. Sadly most of the items no one in the family wanted or needed. She was not a hoarded but she held onto things that were sentimental. After that, I started several weeks ago throwing out at least 10 items each day for a month. To clarify what I mean by “throw out”,I would clean out my e-mails, donate items to charities, place important papers in a central location, and take some things to the bin. I did not want my children burdened with my mess. I do have a special container for sentimental items so if my children don’t want them, they can just toss the box and they don’t have to look all over the house. It made me feel so free to de-clutter!!! 🙂

The biggest one for me is definitely to keep surfaces clear. It’s harder to put things down when there are clear surfaces than it is to add to the clutter that’s there already – so it makes you stop a bad habit! Thanks for sharing all these tips x
